Europe

Our roots

Many of us can trace our roots there - Poland, Germany, England, Lithuania, Russia, Spain, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, France, Wales, and on ....
It's so enlightening to experience the history we've always heard about. .

Sagrada Familia Interior

2024

The open lobby of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona is a soaring space filled with natural light streaming through vibrant stained-glass windows. Tall, tree-like columns branch upward, creating the illusion of a stone forest that supports the immense vaulted ceiling. The interplay of color, shadow, and intricate detail gives the interior a sense of movement and reverence, reflecting Antoni Gaudí’s vision of blending nature, faith, and architecture.

    Asia

    China and India

So much to see. So much to explore. Masses of people in densely populated cities, taxing the senses of a neophyte tourist. Centuries of civilizations leaving their marks for future societies to explore.

    Cloisonne Factory

    1978

This was a government-owned factory in Beijing China. These two workers paint. They don't throw, bake, glaze, dry or sell . They never learn the whole process.

That was China in in 1978.

      Australia

      Australia

Australia’s landscapes range from rugged red deserts to lush rainforests and dazzling coastlines, offering some of the most diverse scenery on earth. Wildlife you won’t find anywhere else adds a wild, unmistakably Australian character to every region. From iconic city skylines to remote outback vistas, the country delivers bold color, big skies, and endless horizons.

      Sydney Harbor Bridge

      2008

At night I took a ferry just past the harbor bridge so I could get some photographs of the Bridge with the Opera House in the background. Awesome.

Friday morning I planned on walking the Harbor Bridge but the rain was pelting and wind driven now. The Aussies rejoiced because they're in the midst of a 5-year drought. I smiled and took credit for bringing the rain, cursing on the inside.
