BoKaap
2016
Bo-Kaap, nestled on the slopes of Signal Hill in Cape Town, South Africa, is famous for its vibrant, candy-colored houses lining cobbled streets. These brightly painted homes reflect the rich cultural heritage of the area's predominantly Muslim community, many of whom are descendants of enslaved people brought from Southeast Asia. The colors are a symbol of freedom and identity, chosen by residents after the end of apartheid.
